BOUT THE COMMEMORATIVE BOOK TO BE REVIEWED
NOVEMBER 5, 2007
Working title : A Small American Town Starts a Big
Conversation to Celebrate Oklahoma's 100th Birthday. ( The Operative word is
EVOLVING, so the title may evolve too!) As Promised in 2004, when we began
this project, all aspects of the Heartland grassroots, centennial project will
be continuously evolving-- including the design concept of the small,
commemorative, multi-genre, community wide, creative endeavor: our unique
little book, which will be the center piece in our gift book collection to the
library-- because it will include the prospectives of many Oklahomans and
friends across America, and it is a labor of love!
WHO:
All Artists/writers welcome!
Artists/writers in Bristow will be leading the way, starting
on their entries for the book, after Easter, as soon as we publish the last
requirements for the entries ( after the four prelim meetings about the book)
this week.
WHAT:
For some time now, the reading circle members have been
talking about the bridge between the Native American and Non-Native American
worldviews/paradigms. From our Prelim questions for the cyber, reading circle
members, we found the answers fell into these four categories, so we chose them
as the four divisions for our book: Art, People, Ecology, and Spirit. These
became the four, separate sections of the small, commemorative book.
So we are asking the artists/writers to except this challenge:
Pick one of the catagories, and convince readers of the book, by use of any
combination of genre, both visual art and writing, that either Art... or
People.... or Ecology..... or spirit... is the ultimate bridge between the
Native American worldviews and the Non-Native American Worldviews. Pick an Entry
from the Library or Download it here. Put it with a copy (you keep the original)
of your one page entry, and turn in both form and entry into: The Bristow
Memorial Library, at 111 W. 7th Street, Bristow OK, or mail it to P.O box 438,
Bristow OK 74010.
WHEN:
We will be exepting entries from now until the last day of
summer vacation! (Labor day!)
WHERE:
Bristow will be the center of the book activity, but all
writers/artists welcome!
HOW:
Through the creative efforts of all Oklahoma artists/writers
and friends, who wish to be a part of this unique endeavor to give a special
gift to our library and children.
WHY:
TO CELEBRATE! TO GIVE TO OUR CHILDREN! ...FOR THE 7TH
GENERATION..
